The location of Casa Sumichius is a winner in lots of ways, surrounded by mature, flower-filled gardens that promise a peaceful stay, with the benefit of lovely sea views from the main and upper floors of the house. The best view is from the master bedroom, which has its own large sun terrace so you can sit and savour the sweeping outlook over your morning coffee as you plan out the day. Whether you’re keen to explore or just need to relax and recharge in the sunshine, the draw of the sparkling swimming pool is irresistible, encircled by walls for privacy and creating a nicely sheltered suntrap for the cooler early or late season days, when pool heating can also be arranged. We love the large barbecue and built-in stone dining table, perfect for long shady lunches or competitive family card games when the phones can go to one side for a while and memories made to last a lifetime.
Casa Sumichuis is a house that works well for all ages, in particular teenagers who are able to walk into nearby Carvoeiro in about 20 minutes, so they can enjoy the beach and some low-key nightlife without needing to be ferried to and fro, though taxis and Ubers are widely available if needed. Little ones love the fine beaches all along this stretch of coast, and if you’re not one for simply sitting in the sun, there are fantastic coastal paths, towns and villages to explore, including Silves, Ferragudo and Porches, all within an easy 15 to 20-minute drive.
